Staff of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC ) main headquarters in Freetown, has raised concerns about the corruption going on at the institution and the Ill-treatment they are receiving from the Director General, Joseph Kapuwa.

The staff told Salone Gossip, a popular blog, that the DG unlawfully employed some staff who have turned out to be problems for other staff members of the institution. They said these staff are bent on molesting and intimidating other staff members and have even resulted to forging other people’s signatures.

The Director of engineering department is said to have been beaten by them on last week Friday after he caught them on the attempt to forge his signature in order to get away with the ongoing ACC investigations on finances surrounding the June 2023 elections.

The Media house is said to have received over two billion old Leones aid from the government for the June 24th national elections but did nothing to upgrade their office or equipment instead they bought only 2 Corolla cars and sold t-shirts to staffs.

The SLBC’s broadcasting room and other areas are in very poor conditions. The house is said to be out of internet facilities for over a year now and what’s more is that staff are being threatened with OSD by the Director General whenever they planned to stage a demonstration. Sad!
