His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and Her Excellency the First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio arrived at the Freetown International Airport from the Africa Climate Change Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The full entourage of the President including his guards were seen arriving at the Lungi Airport and heading for Freetown on Wednesday evening.

“The Africa Climate Change Summit was an opportunity to catalyse new coalitions of partners and initiatives to accelerate climate adaptation actions across Africa, keeping up the momentum and elevating ambition on #adaptation ahead of COP28.”, Bio said on Tuesday.

“The cornerstone of Africa’s climate resilience blueprint lies in collaboration with the international community. To scale up adaptation, direct, unfettered access to climatefinance, bolstering grassroots expertise, and evolving our policy frameworks to resonate with the global climate imperative are non-negotiable.

“We must remove the barriers to accessing meaningful #ClimateFinancing, leverage new #climatechange adaptation and mitigation technologies, and open up new niche markets, including the carbon markets for African countries.”, He added.
