The Government of Sierra Leone has declared Friday, 29th March and Monday, 1st April as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

This was contained in a public notice from the State House released today March 28, 2024.

The notice reads: “The General Public is hereby informed that the following days have been declared as public holidays throughout the country:

“Friday, 29th March 2024 – Good Friday
“Monday, 1st April 2024 – Easter Monday.”

Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.
