The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has on Wednesday, 24 August 2022 confirmed that voter registration for the 2023 general elections will run from 3 September 2022 to 4 October 2022.

ECSL made this disclosure at the official lunching of the voter registration exercise at the New Brookfields Hotel, Freetown.

Chief Electoral Commissioner of ECSL Mohamed Kenewui Konneh said that they had mapped out 3,630 centers across the country and procured 2,000 computers for data extraction from the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA).

He also noted that over 3000 VR staff have been employed to conduct the exercise, in 1,815 Registration centers that wil be opened on two separate dates.

The first phase will be from the 3rd to 15th September 2022, and the second phase will be from the 20th September to 4th October 2022.

Konneh encouraged all Sierra Leoneans, especially women, to come out in large numbers to register.

Chief Minister of Sierra Leone Jacob Jusu Saffa said the government has taken a lot of steps to ensure that elections are conducted in a free and fair manner and in a peaceful environment.

Sierra Leone’s general elections will take place on June 24 next year.
