The European Union’s bus tour has on Monday 20th May 2024 made a stop in Kenema District as part of engaging with stakeholders of the Sierra Leonean projects with team Europe’s support.

The people of Kenema received the team with some cultural performances and other forms of jubilation, which marked their appreciation over their arrival.

The visit of the team to kenema followed after similar moves in other parts of the country where it is currently operating, the bus finally landed in Kenema, and toured some of the facilities created so far for the people of Kenema district.

The team led by the Kenema District Council Chairman, Mohamed Sesay visited the European Union funded district council multipurpose hall and funeral home, highlighting their commitment to support decentralization.

Chairman Sesay appreciated the European Union for their gesture to the people of Kenema district, Chairman Mohamed Sesay said the European Union has been a major pillar towards the gains made by his council over the years highlighting some developments implemented by Kenema district council with funds from the European Union ranging from a funeral home at Bandama, an ultra-modern hall at Nyandeyama road, culverts, schools, safe drinking water, agriculture, health centres, rice mills, Village Loan saving schemes, among others.

N response, the head of the EU BUS team Mr Julius I.K Foday also sends appreciation message to the council and the entire Kenema for the warm reception they received from them as well as expressing great joy over the implemented developmental gains.

He called on the people of Kenema district to always pay their taxes in order to ensure more development in their various localities.

As a way to ensure more quality service delivery for the people of Kenema district, I.K Foday also stated that, they have provided capacity building for council staff and have also provided the council with vehicle and motor bikes to ease their movement from one place to the other.

Julius I.K Foday also hailed Kenema district council for judiciously utilizing the funds they received so far from European Union.

Cultural performances and other forms of entertainment climaxed the tour at the last stop of the bus in Kenema.
