The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has launched a special advocacy campaign for the people of the north.

Following her recent visit to Makeni over the weekend, Mrs. Bio expressed grave concern over the poor condition of the main highway spanning from Magbele Junction through Makoth onto Makeni in the Bombali District.

She directed a special and urgent appeal to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority and the Road Maintenance Fund urging the authorities to take prompt action to reverse the poor condition of the road which currently poses serious threats to lives and properties.

“The potholes are scary and life threatening and we cannot wait for the worse to happen to our northern people before we take action,” she asserted, while re-echoing that the people of the North occupy a special place in the heart of her husband.
