Chief Executive Officer of First Bank, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, led a delegation to Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas on Tuesday to present investment proposals for Sierra Leone.
Mr. Alebiosu thanked the Speaker for hosting the delegation and described Sierra Leone as his home, citing the country’s hospitality. He expressed appreciation to the Speaker and the people of Sierra Leone for their continued support of the Bank.
The CEO disclosed that First Bank plans to implement several projects to complement government efforts, noting that it is in the collective interest of both the private sector and government to ensure economic growth in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Alebiosu informed the Speaker that he had already met with H.E. President Julius Maada Bio, the Bank Governor, and the Minister of Finance regarding the proposed projects. He appealed to the Speaker for parliamentary support once the project agreements are tabled for ratification, reiterating that the Bank is partnering with the Government to build a viable economy for Sierra Leone.
In response, Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas commended the CEO and his team for the courtesy visit and formally welcomed the First Bank delegation to Parliament. The Speaker stated that Sierra Leone and Nigeria share deep ties, noting, “we are the same people.” He expressed delight at First Bank’s presence in the country and its commitment to implementing investments.
The Speaker gave his full endorsement of the initiative and assured the delegation of Parliament’s unwavering support. He further reassured the CEO that H.E. President Julius Maada Bio does not see borders in the West Africa region when it comes to development.
