The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, has announced a scholarship programme for Sierra Leoneans to pursue undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The announcement was made in a public notice issued by the ministry from New England Ville in Freetown, calling on qualified applicants to apply through the Saudi online study portal.

According to the notice, interested applicants are required to submit their applications online through the “Study in Saudi” portal at [Study in Saudi](https://studyinsaudi.sa/en?utm_source=chatgpt.com), where detailed information on available scholarship categories and academic programmes can be accessed.

The ministry stated that the scholarship programme covers undergraduate, master’s and PhD studies, and outlined the academic requirements for each category. For undergraduate admission, applicants must possess a minimum of five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.

Applicants seeking admission into master’s programmes must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division or its equivalent, while PhD applicants are required to possess both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, with the bachelor’s degree meeting the minimum Second Class Upper Division requirement.

The ministry also announced age limits for applicants as of September 2026. Undergraduate applicants must not be more than 21 years old, master’s applicants must not be older than 28 years, while PhD applicants must not exceed 40 years of age.

According to the public notice, all online applications and supporting documents must be submitted no later than Monday, 18 May 2026 at 14:00 GMT. In addition to the online submission, applicants are also required to submit hard copy application packages to the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education at New England Ville in Freetown before the same deadline.

The ministry further stated that application packages must include completed application forms, copies of WASSCE original statements of results for undergraduate applicants, academic certificates and transcripts for postgraduate applicants, and copies of valid passports.

Applicants were also instructed to clearly label their envelopes with details including the title “Application for Saudi Scholarship Programme,” full name, contact number and email address.
