Health Ministry Inspects Major Hospital Construction Projects in Freetown
Sia Lucy Kannah The Ministry of Health has conducted inspections of major hospital construction projects in Lumley, Kerry Town and Waterloo as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to medical services across Sierra Leone.
Deputy Minister of Health II, accompanied by the Senior Permanent Secretary and other senior health officials, carried out on-site inspections of the three healthcare construction projects.
During the inspections, ministry officials engaged contractors on the progress of the projects, focusing on delivery timelines, quality control and potential challenges that could affect completion.
The ministry leadership also assessed the ongoing works to ensure that the facilities are being constructed according to agreed specifications and required standards.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining oversight of the projects and ensuring that they are completed to the required quality standards.
“Every project must meet its agreed specifications, timelines, and quality standards. Our people deserve nothing less. We’ll keep showing up, monitoring, and pushing until these doors open to the communities that need them,” the Deputy Minister stated.
The Ministry of Health said it will continue monitoring the three construction sites to ensure that the projects remain on schedule and that the completed facilities meet the required standards.
