India, Sierra Leone Inaugurate Rehabilitated Skills Training Centre in Kenema
The High Commission of India, the Government of Sierra Leone, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Country Team have inaugurated the rehabilitated Skills Training Centre in Kenema as part of efforts to promote inclusive skills development and economic empowerment for persons with disabilities.
The inauguration took place on September 18, 2026, marking progress in a project supported through a US$990,000 grant from the India–UN Development Partnership Fund.
The project is focused on rehabilitating six skills training centres across Sierra Leone, with the aim of expanding access to vocational training, entrepreneurship opportunities and pathways to economic independence for persons with disabilities.
The initiative reflects continued cooperation between India, Sierra Leone and the United Nations in advancing inclusive development and strengthening opportunities for vulnerable and underserved communities.
The High Commission described the initiative as a demonstration of the shared commitment to “advancing inclusive development, together.”
