My Surety is Only Supposed to Pay Le30 Million – Kamarainba Challenges Bench Warrant, Shares Evidence
Opposition politician, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, who is currently facing a bench warrant for failing to appear in court, has challenged the court decision stating that his surety’s financial obligation is only limited to the LE30 million (old notes) bail amount.
Mansaray, convicted of sexual penetration of a minor and sentenced to 12 years in prison, posted a “Notice of Motions Paper” on his Facebook page, dated September 6, 2023, confirming the LE30 million bail guarantee.
This amount, mandated by Court of Appeal Judge Momoh Jah Steven is intended to be paid by his surety, Isha Baby Mansaray, in the event he defaults bail.
However, the Court of Appeal recently issued a bench warrant for both Mansaray and his surety, citing their failure to appear during an appeal hearing on February 20, 2025. This decision has been met with resistance from Mansaray, who contends that his surety’s responsibility is solely financial, limited to the agreed-upon bail amount.
Mansaray also accused President Julius Maada Bio and his associates of attempting to silence him. He claimed that his continued exposure of an alleged cocaine syndicate in Sierra Leone has put him in direct conflict with powerful figures within the government.
Kamarainba, who is currently in the United States seeking medical treatment, was granted bail in September 2023 due to critical health conditions. He argues that his medical needs necessitated his absence from the court.
The bench warrant stems from his appeal against his conviction for the sexual penetration of a 15-year-old minor.
