Dr. Isata Mahoi, the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, met with the Community of Practice to discuss a new National Safeguarding Policy aimed at protecting vulnerable women and children.

The conversation focused on the need to ensure rural communities have access to essential safeguarding information, as many currently lack this support. Dr. Mahoi also shared that talks with UNICEF are underway to develop a dashboard for tracking child protection issues nationwide.

While the government will oversee the policy, Dr. Mahoi mentioned that NGOs and other partners will be crucial in its rollout. She suggested organizing a roundtable with key stakeholders to further shape the policy.

The Community of Practice expressed their full support for the Ministry’s efforts and committed to collaborating closely to ensure the policy’s success and impact on safeguarding communities across the nation.
