The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Henry Musa Kpaka has announced the ministry’s plan to hire 700 field staff in 2024 and an additional 300 in 2025.

The recruitment is an effort to support President Bio’s flagship “Feeds Salone” project, a program aimed at boosting food production and job creation in the country.

These new hires will address critical gaps in extension services, monitoring, data collection, and livestock support across the country.

“This approach will ensure we have the personnel needed to effectively implement Feeds Salone,” Minister Kpaka said. “We are fully prepared to serve the people and achieve food self-sufficiency for Sierra Leone.”

The Ministry is also actively seeking private sector involvement in Feeds Salone. Minister Kpaka revealed discussions with the US Chamber of Commerce Africa regarding innovative financial tools to attract private investment to the initiative.
