The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) is set to launch a new mobile application to make pension and social security services faster, easier, and more accessible for pensioners and contributors across Sierra Leone.
The initiative is part of NASSIT’s ongoing digital transformation programme and is designed to cut down long queues, reduce travel, and lower transportation costs for users who previously had to visit NASSIT offices in person.
In a video released by the Trust on its new pension administration system, NASSIT said the app will provide a range of self-service options that users can access from the comfort of their homes.
Key features of the new platform include:
Pay contributions and monitor funds directly from a phone
Update personal records, view statements, and check the list of dependents
Plan for retirement and project expected benefits
Mobile money integration with Orange Money, Africell Money and QMoney for benefit access and transactions
USSD access for users without internet, to make payments and check contributions
Bank transfers to reduce trips to banks and waiting in queues
SMS and email notifications* on transactions, contributions and benefits
Digital identity verification* using biometrics such as voice recognition and fingerprints
NASSIT described the system as a “major transformation in service delivery” that will be quicker, more flexible and easier to use.
“The transformation has been designed with pensioners and contributors at the centre,” NASSIT said, adding that customer satisfaction and easier access remain top priorities.
The Trust is urging users to stay informed as it prepares to roll out the application, which it says will bring pension services closer to the people and address long-standing challenges in traditional service delivery.
The planned launch marks another major step in NASSIT’s push to provide *more convenient, efficient and technology-driven services to contributors and pensioners nationwide.
