The Director General of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) Mr. Mohamed Massaquoi has called on citizens to go for their National Identification Card as it is mandatory.
The Card, according to NCRA entails every citizen’s National Identification Number (NIN) which makes it vital for all citizens to have theirs. The National ID Card will enable citizens to access social services and help the government plan well.
The deadline for all citizens to obtain National Identification Cards is fast approaching, the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) in Sierra Leone earlier issued a notice urging all citizens to comply with the Cabinet Directive ratified by Parliament in March 2022. The directive requires individuals to obtain ID cards, whether National, Non-National, or ECOWAS, to access a range of services including financial transactions, vehicle registration, recruitment into institutions, NASSIT enrollment, and more.
Failure to comply with this directive by the deadline of March 31st, 2024 could result in individuals being unable to access essential services, including healthcare, education, movement from one area to another and employment opportunities.
Thank you for the notice. Government last promised to issue those I D Cards free to all citizens. What now forcing citizens to pay for the cards when the cost of living is very high.
TAKE NOTE
There are issues with mismatch of D.O.B
And names and all they said that one should go to Freetown for change of any type of error.
This Government is not serious
So many people cannot afford it
It too expensive director.
What about those people in the remote villagers.
I don’t understand why we treating this way as citizens
It’s good to take your national I’D card
The government of Sierra Leone is not serious about the economic well-being of the poor citizens. During this economic hardship, the government is still putting more hardship on the people.
A national ID card is very important for every citizen but it should not be mandatory especially when it is costly.
If the government wants us to take the national ID card, it should be free of charge. However, the government will not impose a high cost on it (NLe 145) and expects everyone to take it by force.
We are no more living in a democratic state where citizens have the right to participate in decision-making. We are living under an autocratic government in Sierra Leone, all decisions made by the head of state are final. This is not exemplary, people are suffering to feed themselves you are victimizing the citizens to pay for a National ID card, what a vicious government we have in our country.
Does the deadline for the ID apply for Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora?
What the cost of taking the ID card and where is the location too…
This is a heartless Government, they are exploiting us in at every cost inother to excercebate our living condition.
Sierraloaded, we plead through your platform to tell Mr. Konneh to please update all the verification processes that we did through the confirmation in 2021. Some of us want to take our National ID Cards but whenever we approach the regional center they refer us to Freetown. For us to pay transportation fees from Kailahun to Freetown to and fro is not easy at all Mr. Konneh. In terms of the confirmation processes, the workers that NCRA take to do the verification process especially in the provincial areas do not enlight the public at all that whenever you want to change any of your information you have to provide evidence like birth certificate, wace results etc., they never did so, this is the cause of our problem today.
One of the most useless government I have seen in the history of Sierra Leone. When they are stealing the country’s money they fail to realize that there will be shortage of money. Now you are forcing people to give their money so you can use that money to cover the hole you dug.
Basta pekin tin them.
Bastar pikin government, National ID nor bi dey above 15Nle
Wae una don fail d people dem, now una dey park pressure pa people dem. una fell say na through layman d economy 4 grow.
Sorry 4 tell una so. una all alaki 😂
To take ID card is fine but please government don’t put date for that allow us to take it at anytime we want to take it
The last time you NCRA said everyone should go and verify his or name if there is any mismatch of information and they should have the opportunity to change it, some people do correction of their mismatch of information, but it did not reflect in the system at all and people were suffering to do this verification. NCRA should have told people to do new registration instead of using the voters ID card .
Only God can help us in this country.
