The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Moriba Koroma has on the 9th March, 2024 unveiled a New Police Division in Kailahun District.

The event took place in Koindu Town in the Kissi Teng Chiefdom, Kailahun District, which served as a dream, come through for the people. The event was graced by stakeholders of the border town of Koindu witnessed a grand transformation ceremony of their Police Station, into a Division.

The Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Eng. Fallah Kenawa Tengbeh of constituency 02, described the event as a timely one for the people and that it will serve the actual purpose. He maintained that, the event was a symbolic one that will go a long way to protect and promote the development of the chiefdom.

He thanked the Inspector General of Police for fulfilling his promise to the people of Kissi Teng and Kissi Bendu as a whole, describing it as a testament to his hard work and dedication as well as all those who made the entire project came through in diverse ways.

The Regent Chief of Kissi Tongay, Chief Lansana Swarray pleaded with the Government of Sierra Leone to diplomatically manage the existing border conflict between Sierra Leone and Guinea, which has negatively affected both the socio-economic and development strides of Yengha.

The Regional Commander-East, Commissioner Andrew Mustapha Kamara, expressed his profound thanks and appreciation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. William Fayia Sellu for making it possible for the people of Koindu Town and Kissi Bendu as a whole to have a separate Police Divisions.

He revealed that to have a Divisions in Kissi Bendu Chiefdoms would be operationally Convenient, as it lessened the burden of movements, especially the movements of complainants to and fro Kailahun Town to attend to cases. He assured the people of Kissi Bendu that the numerical strength of Police personnel would be increased in the Divisions for a better service delivery, but quickly asked them to work amicably well with these personnel.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Moriba Koroma, alias “Agbao”, applauded president Bio and the Government of Sierra Leone for their commitment towards the Development of Sierra Leone, and stated that the people of Eastern Region hold President Bio to a higher esteem for what he has done for them in terms of development.

He thanked the IGP and the Regional Police Commander for their tireless efforts in the adequate dispensation of security in the Eastern Region, and encouraged the indigenes of Kissy Teng and Kissi Bendu to make good use of the new Division, as the presence of security will drastically reduce crime and it related issues within their communities.
