Two members of the Sierra Leone parliament, Hon. Hon. Umar Paranw Taraally (SLPP) and Hon. Alhassan Kamara (APC Western Area), on Monday exchanged slaps over issues arising from the 2016 budget.

Sierraloaded reports that both Parliament members, who were from different political parties slapped themselves in the premises of the Parliament chamber.

The altercation occurred before the day’s sitting began.

Sierraloaded gathered from witnesses that it took he intervention of the Deputy Speaker of the, Hon. Chernor M. Bah before both parties could reconcile.

There had been altercations over the 2016 Budget. While Paran had said that the budget has not sufficiently addressed the priorities of Sierra Leone, Kamara told reporters that the budget is ‘absolutely fantastic’ and surpassed his expectation.

It is unclear whether or not this divergent views caused the slapping brouhaha, Sources hinted that the drama is highly associated with the 2016 budget.
