The leader of the main opposition All Peoples’ Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Kamara, was noticeably absent from last week’s critical meeting with President Julius Maada Bio and the Co-Chairs of the Tripartite Committee

This meeting was convened to address Resolution (3) of the Agreement for National Unity.

According to reports from Exclusive newspaper, Dr. Samura Kamara’s absence was attributed to unavoidable circumstances. Reliable sources from the APC party disclosed that he was in his hometown of Kamalo, where he was attending the funeral of his younger twin sister. Additionally, he was fulfilling obligations as a Guest Speaker at a ceremony hosted by the University of Makeni.

On April 29, 2024, President Julius Maada Bio extended an official invitation to Dr. Samura Kamara for a National Unity and Peace Dialogue scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024, at State House. The invitation, conveyed through an official letter, underscores the significance of addressing key issues, particularly Resolution (3) of the Agreement for National Unity.

Resolution (3) of the Agreement established a Three-way Committee involving representatives from the Government of Sierra Leone (GOSL), the All People’s Congress (APC), and Development Partners. This committee, operational since January 2024, has a six-month mandate, with activities slated for completion by June 2024.

The meeting, initiated by the Office of the President, aimed to ensure the smooth continuation of operations of the Tripartite Committee.
