Inspector-General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu has encouraged recruits of the Sierra Leone Police Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA) in Hastings to remain disciplined, focused, and committed as they prepare for a two-month On-the-Job Training (OJT) attachment.
Speaking during an interactive session with the recruits at the Academy, IGP Sellu described the OJT as an important stage in their police training, giving them the opportunity to gain practical experience and apply what they have learned in the classroom to real policing situations.
He urged the recruits to take the attachment seriously and maintain professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and respect for authority while serving at their assigned formations. He warned that any recruit involved in misconduct would face disciplinary action in accordance with police regulations.
The Police Chief encouraged the recruits to embrace continuous learning and make use of opportunities that will help them grow professionally within the Sierra Leone Police.
He also assured them that arrangements were being finalised to provide essential training materials, including uniforms and other necessary kits, before the completion of their training.
IGP Sellu commended the recruits for their commitment and perseverance during the first phase of training, urging them to remain dedicated as they prepare for the next stage of their journey in the Force.
The recruits expressed appreciation for the IGP’s advice and pledged to uphold the values and standards of the Sierra Leone Police throughout the two-month OJT and beyond.
