The Minister of Basic Education, David Moinina Sengeh, has published stats on the growth of education in the country.

The data highlight that government financial support to schools has increased from 67% in 2019 to 80% in 2020, stating that now schools receive financial support in time.

The stats shows that new school approval has increased by 28% since 2018, with 4,872, 7,000 and 8,089 schools approved in 2018, in 2019 and in 2020 respectively. This shows that more schools have been approved over the three years.

The stats also shows that there are currently 11,034 schools in the country, with a dramatic increase in the number of girls going to school.

The stats also shows that there are five categories of ownership of schools in the country. These are government, mission, community and private based owned schools.
