Minister Sackey Holds High-Level Talks With Chinese Ambassador on Education Partnership
Sia Lucy Kannah The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, has held a high-level diplomatic meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yong, to discuss the future of bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
The meeting focused on expanding opportunities for Chinese language learning, supporting technical and vocational education, and strengthening exchange programmes for pupils and teachers.
Speaking after the engagement, Minister Sackey expressed appreciation for China’s continued support to Sierra Leone’s education sector, including the donation of rice to assist schools and pupils across the country.
“I also expressed appreciation for China’s continued support of Sierra Leone’s education sector, including the donation of rice to support schools and pupils nationwide,” he stated.
The two sides also discussed possible technical assistance to repair school buses to ensure their continued service for students.
Minister Sackey reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to partnerships that equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed for the future.
“We look forward to deepening collaboration in education, cultural exchange, and human capital development for the benefit of our two nations,” he added.
The meeting reflects ongoing cooperation between Freetown and China, with education remaining a key area of partnership.
