Delegates at the All People’s Congress (APC) Conference in Makeni have voted overwhelmingly for Osman Abdal Timbo as the new deputy secretary general of the party.
Timbo, who was a member of Parliament, won a landslide with 1,324 votes as against second and third place Alie Conteh and Aziz Turay with 210 and 78 votes respectively.
Timbo will serve as deputy of a fellow lawyer, Lansana Dumbuya who also defeated former Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Ady Macauley for the Secretary-General position of the party.
The main opposition APC also elected Dr Samura Kamara as the party’s presidential candidate for the June 2023 elections.
