The World Food Programme (WFP) has successfully ensured timely school feeding for 1,196 government-assisted primary schools across Bonthe, Kambia, Kenema, Karene, and Pujehun.
This marks the second term of food distributions, with a special focus on reaching hard-to-access areas, even during school holidays. WFP’s efforts guarantee that children continue learning without the burden of food insecurity.
Additionally, WFP is supporting farmers in Tonkolili by promoting organic fertilizer production and eco-friendly soil management, enhancing long-term agricultural sustainability. The initiative aims to improve farming practices while fostering environmental stewardship.
WFP has also installed milling machines and provided small-scale farming tools in districts like Kenema, Kambia, Moyamba, Pujehun, Tonkolili, and Koinadugu to improve rice quality and market value.
By partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), WFP ensures farmers are trained in safe machinery use. These initiatives strengthen food security, agricultural innovation, and community resilience across Sierra Leone
