The Opposition Leader in Parliament, Abdul Kargbo, has outlined the final homecoming arrangements for the late National Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, as the party prepares to receive his remains in Sierra Leone.
Hon. Kargbo revealed that he returned from Senegal on Friday morning to join key party stakeholders in engagements with President Julius Maada Bio and to coordinate activities surrounding the late chairman’s final journey home.
According to the Minority Leader, the body of the late APC Chairman is expected to arrive at Lungi International Airport at 4:30 p.m. today. Following its arrival, the remains will be taken to the Lungi Government Hospital before a special Qur’anic reading is held later in the evening at his residence in Lungi.
He further disclosed that the funeral convoy will depart Lungi on Saturday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., making its way through Port Loko before proceeding to Freetown.
As part of the party’s planned tribute, the late chairman’s body will lie in repose at the APC National Secretariat on Sunday from noon, giving party members, supporters, sympathizers, and the public the opportunity to pay their last respects.
The funeral programme will continue on Monday with the remains being laid in state at the State Hall of Parliament at 10:00 a.m., followed by a civic laying-out ceremony at the Freetown City Council.
Hon. Kargbo called on APC stakeholders, supporters, and the wider public to turn out in large numbers to honour the late chairman, describing him as a dedicated party leader whose legacy will continue to shape the APC and national politics.
He added that further details regarding the funeral proceedings will be communicated in due course.
