The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has debunked rumours about issuance of another voter to political parties.

“The ECSL has not given any new voter register to political parties after its official distribution of FLV on the 9th of June 2023 at the National Warehouse at Wellington, contrary to disinformation on the social media,” the Commission said.

On Thursday there were rumours on social media that the ECSL has issued a fresh voter register to the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) amid controversy from the party over the said first copy.

The APC have been in a long dispute with the ECSL over voter register and counting system to be employed.

The main opposition also want the ECSL to do manual counting and collation of results via district level instead of regional level.

On Wednesday, the party staged a protest across the country but things got sour with security forces at their Freetown headquarters which resulted to the death of one supporter according to reports.

Despite the disagreement of the main opposition, the leadership said they will partake in a propose peace march on Friday -hours to the elections on Saturday.
