The Freetown Mayoral Candidate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Mohamed Gento Kamara has said that he is currently leading the polls after Saturday election.
“We are comfortably ahead!” he said in a tweet with a poster saying, “Freetown We Are Winning.”
This manifestation from the Freetown Mayoral Candidate surfaced after some provisional results have seen him trailing behind the incumbent All People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr.
Kamara is campaigning on sanitation and inclusion if he wins city hall. He previously accused his arch-rival Aki-Sawyerr of tribalism and corruption.
Aki-Sawyerr denied the allegation while asking Freetonians to give her five more years to complete what she started.
Freetown is Sierra Leone’s largest city and capital. It has been a stronghold of the APC but political analysts in their pre-election analyses ticked the SLPP candidate of having a chance in the mayoral polls.

Gento is already the winner. He has never authorised the removal of any water tank from any community it’s just the usual APC lies

Am not saying this in favor of SLPP or APC But as a peaceful citizen of this country
Obviously, I don’t know what type of a mayor Gento would make, so I don’t want to and can’t criticize him on that, but anyone here or anywhere, that will look at what Aki-Sawyerr as mayor has done and think she needs to be replaced is the tribalist here as you can not possible have any issues with her performance. When she is providing nurseries for market woman, when she is trying to clean up Freetown, when she is trying to make our city world class, isn’t she doing it in an inclusive manner?. I saw a video yesterday or a Bio motorcade leaving Statehouse after the “win” and going to the Presidential Lodge. They got to Wilkinson road and drove on the wrong lane for quite a while, no regards for rules and regulation. So lawlessness and the further ruining of our country starts at the top. With Gento probably looking to be a mini Bio, we will probably see more of this. We need to be honest, his candidacy is a tribal attack on Aki-Sawyerr if not krios in general. If he is interested in politics, someone of his stature should have angled for a ministerial position or MP. Instead he looks at probably the best performing public servant in the whole country and decides she is not doing a good job he needs to replace her. That thinking along should make voters wonder. Did he even come up with this on his own? We know the Bio administration has been nothing but a thorn in her side. Did Bio put word in his ear or did mini Bio himself look at the criticisms and decide to kiss Bio and his wife’s behinds and try to get Aki-Sawyer out of office. Lae God ep we country.
