AFCON U-20: Shooting Stars Defeat Tanzania to Make the Knockout
Sahid Bangura Sierra Leone’s U-20 team, the Shooting Stars, achieved another historic milestone by defeating Tanzania 1-0 in the TotalEnergies AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt.
The impressive victory marks the second win ever for Sierra Leone in the competition, showcasing an impressive reappearance after crushing the host team, Egypt 4-1 in their previous match.
The Group A leaders, Sierra Leone have sealed a historic quarter-final spot, following their victory against Tanzania, which has advanced them to the knockout stage for the first time.
The match showcased the 18-year-old Samuel Gandi, who plays for the Old Edwardians FC in the Sierra Leone Premier, scoring a brilliant goal, which turned the game in favor of the Shooting Stars.
The Shooting Stars will play South Africa on match day three to mark their final group match. The West Africans seem determined to make a landmark victory in the AFCON U-20 Tournament this year. as they continue to their impressive display finding the net five times in three matches.
