Ahead of Sierra Leone Premier League 2021/2022 season, East End Lions Football Club had today unveiled their superb signing of former Sharks Defensive Midfielder Abdul Nyamekye on a one year contract with a option to extend if the player pleased.

With Ecstasy and well prepared ahead of the Premier League, the club expressed delight as it unveiled the signing to fans and supporters.

The 25 years old defensive midfielder has represented Ghana at youth levels and has been playing with his former Sharks for several football seasons. He also had a successful loan spell with Ghanaian side Akyem Tato Overcomere S.C. in the 2020/2021 season.

In his new club, East End Lions FC, Abdul Nyamekye can either play as Centre back or right back. The part of it is that he is skilled and experienced in both positions.

The player said: “I had a good talk with the Chairman and the Coach.” First of all, it was very important for me to play this season and the coach gave me a good solution for that.

Nyamekye is set to join an array of new arrivals in his new and has expressed his delight at joining one of the biggest clubs in Sierra Leone.

On an interview of Nyamekye, the player disclosed how he was scouted and what convinced him into joining the team.

“The trainer seems to like how I play and really wanted me to come here, which is what convinced me to come,” Nyamekye affirmed.

The Head coach of Leone Stars Team-B Francis Zappa Koroma affirmed that the player is strong and very good on his defensive positions. He continued that, this signing of Nyamekye will bring experience, stability and leadership in the team.

“He is a strong defender and is very good at building up the play when we play out from the back. He will bring experience, stability leadership in the team” Coach Zappa maintained.

Former Kamboi Eagles and Head Coach of the Sierra Leone Home Based Team, Francis Zappa Koroma joined the East End Lions FC two months ago.
