The Women’s Premier League Board which comprised seven members led by Asmaa Kamara James as the Chairperson of the board with the mandate to ensure the smooth running of the first-ever female top-tier league in Sierra Leone over the weekend achieved the benchmark for all sixty-six matches in the first round of the league completed in December as earlier indicated in the fixtures.

Before the commencement of the league, the board undertake several activities not limited to; the verification process, nationwide engagement tour, and seminars organised for match and clubs officials, and also all the twelve clubs received seed monies

Kahunala Queens Football Club based in Kenema Eastern Sierra Leone was the first team to record a win in the league following their 1-0 triumph in the opening match on the 15th of October 2022 at the Makeni Wusum field over the host Mena Queens FC, also emerged as the league leader in the first round with thirty (30) points recording ten wins and one defeat.

Kumba Zainab Brima and Matilda Kabba both playing for Kahunla Queens lead the goal scorer chart with 14 and 11 goals respectively, while Ram K Football Club in Bo City registered the highest number of clean sheets eight, and conceded only five goals.

However, Mogbwemo Queens which sits second in the log with twenty-nine (29) points is the only team with an unbeaten streak in the league, registering nine wins and two draws.
