President Julius Maada Bio presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Ibrahim Sannoh as the new Minister of Youth Affairs. The ceremony marked an important step as Sannoh embarks on his mission to fulfill the government’s commitments to the youth of Sierra Leone.
Following his appointment on May 8, 2025, Sannoh received unanimous approval from the House of Parliament. In his new role, he is tasked with formulating and implementing policies aimed at empowering the nation’s youth and facilitating their involvement in national development.
Sannoh, a member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has held various significant positions throughout his career. He previously served as Personal Assistant to Dr. Kadie Sesay, who was the 2012 presidential running mate to then-candidate Julius Maada Bio. His professional journey includes roles in the private sector, where he worked as a Business Developer for Trans Sahara and as CEO of Favour Investment.

In 2017, Sannoh played a crucial role as Outreach and Planning Coordinator during President Bio’s successful campaign. He was subsequently appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) in September 2018, quickly rising to Executive Director within two years due to his exemplary service. Most recently, he served as Deputy Minister of Communications, Technology, and Innovation before his promotion to Minister of Youth Affairs.
During the ceremony, President Bio congratulated Sannoh and assured him of his full support as he takes on this vital role in advancing the interests of Sierra Leone’s youth.
