The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio has expressed profound sorrow following the death of Hawa Moseray, a senior State House correspondent for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

The senior Journalist reportedly passed away on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at Aspen Hospital in Brookfields, Freetown.

In a heartfelt statement, President Bio described Moseray as “not only a dedicated professional but also a cherished member of our family.” He extended his thoughts and prayers to her family, stating, “May her gentle soul find eternal peace.”

Hawa Moseray had a distinguished career in journalism, serving as a key correspondent for the Office of the President at State House.

Her work was recognized for its dedication and passion, making significant contributions to national broadcasting and journalism in Sierra Leone.

The Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) also expressed their condolences, reflecting the impact of Moseray’s work.

In their statement, they noted, “Her passing is a great loss to the media fraternity. We honour her legacy and the path she paved for many women in journalism.”
