Icelandic Premier League club Stjarnan FC have signed Sierra Leonean players Alpha Conteh and Ibrahim Turay ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Conteh, a midfielder, joins from Neftchi Baku in Azerbaijan, while Turay commonly known as IB Computer a forward, arrives from Bo Rangers FC, the reigning champions of Sierra Leone’s topflight. The pair are expected to add depth and versatility to the Stjarnan squad, which is aiming to remain competitive in both domestic and European competitions.
The club stated that these acquisitions are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen the team with players who bring international experience and potential. Both signings will also see the players link up with former Sierra Leone captain Steven Caulker, who currently serves as Stjarnan’s player-coach.
Football observers note that the move underscores the increasing presence of Sierra Leonean players in European leagues. The upcoming season will show how Conteh and Turay adapt to the Icelandic league and contribute to Stjarnan’s performance goals.
