The Government of Sierra Leone has provided a brand-new 40-seater bus to the Kono University of Science and Technology (KUST) to improve access to quality education.

The donation is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen tertiary education and address logistical challenges faced by students and staff, particularly in newly established institutions.

The university officially received the bus, which is expected to ease transportation difficulties for students and faculty, especially those commuting from distant communities.

University authorities expressed profound gratitude to the government for the support. They noted that the bus will significantly reduce mobility challenges and enhance participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.

The Vice-Chancellor of KUST described the donation as “timely and impactful,” adding that the university is committed to maintaining the vehicle to ensure it serves its intended purpose. Community members in Kono have also welcomed the development, seeing it as a sign of the government’s growing investment in the district’s educational infrastructure and human capital development.

Established to promote science-based learning and innovation, KUST continues to nurture young talents in the Eastern Province.

The addition of the new bus marks another milestone in the government’s drive to strengthen tertiary education across Sierra Leone.
