Gender activist Naasu Fofanah has publicly declared her intention to contest for the running mate position of the All People’s Congress (APC) ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Fofanah made the statement on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, during a media engagement, where she outlined her political ambition and confidence in her ability to serve both her party and the country if given the opportunity.

I have said, that in 2028, when my party, the All People’s Congress (APC), chooses its flagbearer, there is an opportunity for a running mate, isn’t it? That I Naasu Fofanah will come out to contest for that Running Mate position,” she stated.

She emphasized that her decision to pursue the position should not be seen as unusual, noting that political ambition is necessary for leadership.

I have a very good opportunity for that and I’ve said it earlier, it is not a thing to be afraid of, one has to aim for something, and because I know in a position like that I would be able to function very well for my party and also my country, I have all that it takes to contest for that position,” Fofanah said.

Fofanah also expressed strong confidence in the APC’s chances in the next election cycle, stating that her political efforts are aligned with ensuring victory for the party in 2028. “I believe that our party will win the 2028 elections that is why we are out there to support the APC to win the election, and it is an agenda which we have stick to just so our party will come out victorious,” she added.

Highlighting her role within the party, Fofanah said her involvement would help broaden the APC’s appeal and strengthen its support base across the country. She noted that her presence would attract new members who identify with her leadership and advocacy.

I’m am coming in to make the APC attractive to those who believe in me that my presence would ensure the party to do what is right,” she said. “So I’m coming to increase the membership of the APC, not only with the districts, but nationwide because there are people who believe in me.

She further indicated that she intends to serve as a bridge between the party leadership and the public by raising concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed. “I’m bringing that platform to the table because I know that if there are things that are not correct, my party has a listen ear, so they will listen, whereby people will keep them updated on issues that may not come to their notice,” she stated.

Reaffirming her political alignment, Fofanah concluded, “As for me, I’m with the APC, and my vision is to bring in more members, both young and old.

Her declaration comes as political activities gradually begin to take shape ahead of the 2028 elections, with parties expected to intensify internal consultations and positioning in the coming months.
