NEW Joins International Missions to Observe Benin Presidential Election

The National Election Watch (NEW) is participating in the observation of the presidential election in Benin, held on April 12, 2026, marking a notable step in the organization’s expanding regional engagement.

Rev. James A. Lahai, National Coordinator of NEW, is leading the West Africa Election Observers Network (WAEON) delegation for the exercise. In a related development, Kadiatu Tholley, a young women’s leader from Port Loko District and member of a NEW-affiliated organization, is also part of the observation mission under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

NEW’s involvement underscores its growing presence in regional electoral processes and reflects increasing recognition of its role in promoting democratic governance across West Africa.
