The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Mr Edmond Alpha, met with the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Madam Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara, on May 5, 2026, as part of ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening electoral governance.
During the courtesy visit, Mr Alpha emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration, coordination, and cooperation among key stakeholders—including civil society organisations, political parties, and professional bodies—in rebuilding public trust and confidence in the electoral process.
He underscored the critical role of the SLBA in advancing electoral reforms and promoting integrity within Sierra Leone’s democratic framework.
In response, Madam Gento-Kamara reaffirmed the SLBA’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Commission’s reform agenda.
She assured that the Association stands ready to work closely with ECSL and other stakeholders to promote credible, transparent, and accountable elections in Sierra Leone.
The engagement highlights ECSL’s continued efforts to foster inclusive partnerships aimed at driving meaningful electoral reforms and strengthening democratic institutions nationwide.
