The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has announced its commitment to fully participate in Sierra Leone’s upcoming 2026 Population and Housing Census.

The party’s position was disclosed by Alfred Minkailu Payamba Koroma, a senior member of the APC Media Team, during a live discussion on AYV’s Sunday programme, which focused on the theme, “The Makeni Presidential Town-Hall: Achievements Articulated or Challenges Ignored?”

Koroma said the APC would cooperate with the census process and ensure that its supporters participate across the country.

“We will fully cooperate. We are not going to boycott any process this time. We are going to participate fully. We will ensure that our people are counted in every part of the country,” he said.

The announcement was welcomed by Information Minister Chernor Bah, who acknowledged the party’s commitment to supporting the national exercise.

The APC’s declaration comes as preparations continue for the 2026 Population and Housing Census, a key national exercise aimed at providing reliable demographic and socio-economic data to guide development planning, resource allocation and public policy decisions.

The party’s participation is expected to contribute to wider public involvement in the census process and support efforts to achieve comprehensive population data collection nationwide.
