The Crime Officer of the Port Loko Police Division, Inspector Bangali Bangura, has identified larceny (stealing) and fraud as the dominant crimes currently affecting the district.
Speaking on the prevailing crime situation, Inspector Bangura disclosed that the police are actively investigating several criminal cases. However, he noted that many investigations are being hindered by limited cooperation from members of the public, making it more difficult for officers to gather evidence and bring offenders to justice.
He appealed to residents of Port Loko to work closely with the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist investigations and help improve community safety.
Inspector Bangura assured the public that the Sierra Leone Police remain committed to protecting the identities of individuals who provide information, emphasizing that all sources will be treated with strict confidentiality to encourage greater public participation in the fight against crimes.
