Leone Stars Head Coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa and his technical team have successfully completed the first week of a training camp involving home-based players as preparations intensify for the TotalEnergies 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The training camp is part of the technical team’s preparations to assess players and build a competitive squad ahead of Sierra Leone’s qualification campaign for the 2027 AFCON, which will be hosted in East Africa.

Throughout the first week, the coaching staff focused on assessing the fitness, quality and tactical abilities of the home-based players as they continue to identify players who could contribute to the national team.
The camp is scheduled to resume on Monday, with Coach Gomes Da Rosa and his technical team expected to continue evaluating the players while fine-tuning the squad ahead of the qualifiers.

The ongoing preparations form part of the Leone Stars’ broader efforts to ensure the team is adequately prepared for the qualification campaign and to give local-based players an opportunity to stake their claim for national team selection.
With the first week now completed, attention turns to the continuation of the camp as the technical team works towards assembling a squad capable of competing for a place at Africa’s biggest football tournament in 2027.
