Former All People’s Congress (APC) spokesperson, Sidie Yayah Tunis, has accused the party’s National Chairman, Osman Foday Yansaneh, of allegedly masterminding the ongoing court action challenging the status of the APC National Executive.

Tunis claimed that Chairman Yansaneh had previously sought an extension of the National Executive’s tenure, which he said officially expired on August 18, 2026, after a six-month extension.

According to Tunis, Yansaneh approached the APC National Advisory Council (NAC) seeking a further extension of the Executive’s mandate. He further alleged that the complainant in the current court matter was being used as a proxy to pursue the legal action against the party’s leadership.

Tunis also claimed that the court summons in the matter was received and signed for by Chairman Yansaneh, which he said raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the case.

The former APC spokesperson maintained that the National Executive’s mandate had expired and argued that the party should have initiated a lawful transition process rather than allowing the matter to become the subject of prolonged legal proceedings.

He warned that the court action could deepen existing divisions and create further uncertainty within the opposition party at a time when internal unity is considered crucial.

Tunis called for the matter to be referred to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), which he said should help facilitate a lawful and transparent resolution in accordance with the country’s political party regulations.

He further urged the APC leadership to establish an orderly interim arrangement and proceed with internal elections through a process that would safeguard the unity, stability and credibility of the party.

The allegations by Tunis come amid continuing disagreements within the APC over the status and tenure of its National Executive, with the latest court action adding another layer to the party’s internal leadership dispute.
