High Court Justice Adrian Fisher has reportedly remanded businessman Ibrahim Kamara to the Male Correctional Facility following his arraignment on a drug possession charge stemming from a 2025 incident at a Kono mining company.
Kamara pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of drugs, a charge under Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008, during his first appearance before the High Court. Prosecutors allege he possessed 103 wraps of cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 80 grams, at Koidu Holdings Limited in Koidu Town on October 9, 2025.
The prosecution, led by A. Jalloh Esq., told the court that laboratory analysis confirmed the substance contained tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The prosecution requested a short adjournment to present witnesses.
Justice Fisher declined to grant bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and ordered Kamara to remain at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to October 16, 2026, for further proceedings.
Justice Adrian Fisher is a High Court judge whose appointment was approved by Parliament in December 2022. He has presided over several notable cases, including the 2022 acquittal of a military personnel on murder charges and rulings on bail applications.
Koidu Holdings Limited, where the alleged offence occurred, has been the subject of multiple disputes in recent years, including labour standoffs over working conditions, salary structures and safety concerns. The Kono Students Union also publicly challenged the company’s scholarship claims in 2025.
