Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Receives International Human Rights Award
Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, Komba Kamanda, has received a Human Rights Award from the International Human Rights Protection Services in recognition of his commitment to human rights and community service.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at Kumsia Bliss Hall in Freetown. Its inscription recognised Justice Kamanda “for his commitment to human rights and community service.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Charles Numenie, described in the event statement as Nigeria’s Special Envoy for West Africa, underscored the importance of justice and the rule of law in maintaining a stable and orderly society.
“Where there is no justice and the rule of law, society will cease to exist,” he said, emphasising the need to treat citizens with dignity, fairness and respect under the law.
The International Human Rights Protection Services, described by its organisers as a United States-headquartered non-profit organisation operating in 27 countries, said its mission is to defend human rights without discrimination based on nationality or race.
