Local Government Ministry Suspends Town Chief Election Process in Kono

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs has requested the suspension of the upcoming Town Chief Declaration of Rights exercise in Koquima Town, Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District, citing unresolved issues surrounding the process.

In a letter dated 22 October 2026, the Ministry formally requested that the planned exercise be put on hold until all outstanding issues relating to the Declaration of Rights process are resolved.

The Ministry said the unresolved issues warrant the suspension of the exercise and urged the relevant authorities to officially halt the process pending their resolution.

It also expressed confidence that the relevant authorities would cooperate in ensuring that the matter is addressed.
