Justice Fisher Warns APC Members of Possible Detention Over Election Disruptions
Justice Adrian Fischer has warned members and supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) against disrupting the party’s internal elections, saying those found responsible could remain in custody until after the National Delegates Conference.
According to a statement from the APC Strategic Communication Unit, the judge urged party leaders, including Osman Foday Yansanneh and Sidi Yaya Tunis, to ensure that their members respect the electoral process and avoid actions that could undermine the polls.
Justice Fischer reportedly cautioned that individuals brought before the court and found culpable of electoral disruptions could be detained until the conference concludes, subject to the law and the court’s decision.
He also condemned reported incidents involving intimidation, threats, alleged destruction of ballot boxes and disturbances at polling centers, emphasizing that disagreements over the elections should be addressed through lawful and peaceful channels.
“I AM NOT JOKING, AND I AM SERIOUS!” Justice Fischer declared, according to the statement, reinforcing his warning against conduct that could threaten the orderly conduct of the party’s elections.
The judge urged aspirants and their supporters to follow the electoral rules, respect the outcome and allow the internal process to proceed without violence or disruption.
The statement was issued by the APC Strategic Communication Unit. The claims have not been independently verified.
