The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has hosted the eight contestants competing in the prestigious AYV News Miss University contest at his office, where they engaged in discussions on beauty, career development, purpose and the proposed Safe Motherhood Bill in Sierra Leone.

In a statement shared following the meeting, Minister Bah said he was impressed not only by the contestants’ appearance but also by the quality of their contributions, describing their conversation as engaging and intellectually stimulating.

According to the Minister, the discussion developed into a mini-debate, covering different perspectives on the meaning of beauty, personal purpose and career choices. He further disclosed that when he asked the contestants who they believed would win the competition, all eight raised their hands, reflecting their confidence and enthusiasm ahead of the grand finale.

The finale of the AYV News Miss University contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday 31st October 2026 at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown.
