Eight-year-old Jahleel Kamara, a young actor and model of Sierra Leonean heritage, is rapidly gaining recognition in Hollywood for his burgeoning acting talent.

Kamara, who began his acting career at the age of four, has already amassed an impressive list of credits, including roles in the television series “Manifest” (2018), the film “B-Boy Blues” (2021), Disney+’s “Rise,” the Sundance film “Nanny,” and most recently, Lionsgate’s action-thriller “Shadow Force” (2025).

His performance as Kai in “Shadow Force,” alongside actor Omar Sy, has been particularly praised, with critics describing it as “electrifying.” In the film, Kamara portrays a boy with a passion for music and a strong familial bond.

Speaking about his role in “Shadow Force,” Kamara emphasized the need for focus in balancing comedic and emotional scenes. He also expressed his excitement about working on an action film for the first time, alongside established actors like Washington and Sy.

Born to Sierra Leonean parents, Kamara credits his background and diverse experiences for shaping his approach to acting, which has spanned comedy, thrillers, and now action. His work has also provided him with opportunities to film in various international locations.

Despite his early success, Kamara remains grounded and hopes audiences will recognize the emotional depth in his performances. “Some people might just see me as funny, but I hope they see the other side too. The emotional side,” he stated.

“Shadow Force,” which also stars Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Cliff “Method Man” Smith, was released in theaters on May 9th, showcasing Kamara’s rising star in Hollywood.
