In a harrowing and deeply distressing event, a Sierra Leonean security guard, identified as Alusine, hailing from Lunsar town in Sierra Leone, tragically lost his life to a savage dog attack in Bijilo, Gambia.
The vicious assault occurred while he was on duty at a residential property, where he was ruthlessly mauled by a pack of unrestrained dogs. Alusine’s desperate pleas for assistance went unanswered, leading to his untimely demise. Notably, Alusine is the eighth victim to have suffered a fatal attack from these same dogs, according to eyewitnesses.
The house where this dreadful incident transpired is owned by Edriss Bensouda, a Moroccan-Gambian and proprietor of a local butcher shop. Eyewitnesses and sources at the scene unequivocally attribute the responsibility for this gruesome attack to the owner’s dogs, which are known for their aggressive behavior.
In response to this heart-wrenching tragedy, a group of Sierra Leoneans gathered outside Edriss Bensouda’s residence to voice their anguish and demand justice and accountability for the shocking occurrence. Regrettably, the situation escalated into a contentious confrontation as the police arrived on the scene and arrested multiple participants of the protest, intensifying the prevailing tension.
This deeply distressing incident has underscored concerns regarding the safety of security personnel and the imperative responsibility of pet owners to ensure the proper containment and control of their aggressive animals. The investigation into the dog attack and the subsequent arrests remains ongoing as the community mourns the grievous loss of Alusine, the Sierra Leonean security guard.
