Conrad Sackey, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Sierra Leone has unveiled the results of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A total of 132,684 candidates from 1,730 schools across the country participated in the BECE.

Regrettably, 5,619 students were absent during the examination, leaving 127,065 candidates who successfully completed at least one subject.

However, the results of 1,889 candidates from 8 schools have been withheld by the West African Examinations Council (WACE) due to late entries.

Despite these challenges, the Minister confirmed that the results of 130,795 candidates, inclusive of those who were absent, have been released to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

This marks a significant milestone in the educational journey of these students and is expected to have a substantial impact on their future prospects.
