Tonkolili District’s first private University located in Mile 91 town has on December 7th, 2023 released names of the qualified candidates that will contest the forthcoming Student Union election.

Every academic year, the University elects a new Student Union executive to manage and organize the affairs of Students, and the executive thus serves as an intermediary between the administration and the Students.

In a recently released public notice, the University announced that it has selected December 18th, 2023 as the official date for the conduct of the 2023/2024 academic year Student Union elections, and accordingly, it invited applications for Students that will meet with its set criteria to apply for the Union’s Presidency.

Following that notice two bonafide Students all in their third year have been announced as qualified candidates for the presidency of the Central University’s Union of Students.

Destiny Zeedes Kamara, from the Mass Communication Department with admission number 2022078, and Henry Bobson Sesay with admission number 2022038 are the candidates the University says qualified to run for the Student Union Presidency.

“This serves to notify the general Student body of Central University that the under-mentioned students have registered interests in contesting for the Students Union President office for the 2023/2024 academic year,” the University’s public notice reads.

The two Students, the administration said, have successfully gone through the University’s registry set criteria and are qualified to contest.

“The registry has verified their applications based on the eligibility criteria set by the administration and thus declared them qualified to run for the Students Union presidency,” the University registry wrote.

The candidates, the University said are therefore permitted to go about their campaigns but were cautioned to do it in a manner that will disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the institution’s learning environment.

December 15th, 2023, the University said it had been slated for the manifest night. News Journal, a campus media organization is going to organize the manifesto night, according to the notice from the University.

The administration stresses that only Students who are registered with the University for the academic year 2023/2024 will be eligible to vote during the election.

Currently, campaigns are ongoing and in a peaceful manner.
