Fourah Bay College (FBC), a prestigious institution under the University of Sierra Leone, is gearing up for its annual Matriculation Ceremony scheduled for March 7, 2024. New students admitted for the 2023/24 academic year are urged to mark their calendars and ensure their presence at this significant event.
In an official announcement, FBC administration emphasized the mandatory attendance of all newly admitted students who have completed their fee payments and received their allotments. The Matriculation Ceremony serves as a formal induction into the university community and sets the tone for the academic journey ahead.
Continuing students transitioning from diploma programs to degree programs for the 2022/23 academic year are also reminded to report to the Students Section of the Registry by March 5, 2024. Failure to do so may result in their exclusion from the University Register, underscoring the importance of their participation in the ceremony.
Additionally, students in Levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 who missed previous Matriculation processes are advised to register promptly at the Students Section and pay a late Matriculation Fine of two hundred and fifty Leones (Le 250) before the deadline.
A strict dress code has been outlined for the occasion to uphold the university’s traditions and decorum. Male attendees are required to wear full-length black trousers, a white shirt, the FBC tie, and black shoes. Female participants are expected to don a white midi dress (below the knee), black hose, black shoes, and the University scarf.
To complete their Matriculation attire, students can collect University gowns from the FBC Finance Office, provided they present receipts confirming full payment. This meticulous arrangement ensures a uniform and dignified appearance for all attendees.
The Matriculation Ceremony at Fourah Bay College signifies a momentous milestone in the academic journey of its students, symbolizing their formal integration into the esteemed institution’s scholarly community.
